...you find yourself making mental notes for the obituary of someone who's still alive. Thinking "Well, eventually he's going to die, and I'm going to want to put up a post in appreciation, so what am I going to say?".
Does anyone have the number for Bloggers Anonymous?
P.S. In case you're wondering, it was Godard - this whole comparison between him and Aristophanes.

er..actually, a comparison with a mainstream newspaper would be more apt, because that is exactly what they do.
I KNEW it was Godard.:D
V.
amazing. i shamefully admit, that i have been doing it for sometime. it is insensitive to name that person and i sincerely wish that he lives at least another 20 years. what is a surprise is that only yesterday i was stating this reason to a friend when he asked me to publish the stuff on my blog. we really seem to be a part of the great web - you know what web, i am sure - and all that sort of thing.
thats just terrible.....*shame on you*
if the post really is a good one, the next step is ensuring the conditions are right for you to get it off the presses pronto.
Not sure if this is a blog thing. Ages ago, when I was 25, Bill wrote an obituary of me. He likes the first line of Love Story that so he claimed that he had always wanted to start with that line and write an obituary for someone. How about that for an excuse?
No, people, I am not kidding.
(Also, unrelated question: does Blogger do vague things like appear in German for any of you guys? Right now, the line below this comment box reads: Sie können HTML-Tags verwenden, z. B. ...)
space bar: Now, now, no reason to get nasty.
V: Ummm....okay. Scary, but okay.
arvind: ah, so it's not just me then.
szerelem: Ya, I know.
TR: No, no - that's more Veena's line. Remember how she killed off Bergman?
Veena: Wait - and after he writes this obituary you decide to marry him? This is one dating ritual I have GOT to try.
And no, kann ich nicht sagen, daß es überhaupt mir geschehen wird.
veena:
right there with you on the German bit.
Well, it IS from love story. And it goes (because I just re-read it this weekend because like Everest it was there and who wants to climb Everest on a weekend anyway?) something about a beautiful, brilliant girl blah blah blah. So I am sure Veena didn't mind the bit about dying at 25.
I wouldn't suggest you use obit-writing as a dating ritual, Falsie. Knowing you, it'll probably be from some depressing Tasmanian literary canon where the (dead) heroine is unwashed, unloved and psychotic to boot.
n!
n!: "the (dead) heroine is unwashed, unloved and psychotic to boot"
Exactly. The only kind of woman I have any chance with.
how morbid can thee be...
n the n! fan club grows,we are now officially ready to dump falsie for n! as the must read of the day.
