Oh to be in England

Of course, the other big concert that's happening right now is the Live 8 thing-y - some eight concerts happening all around the world, supposedly in aid of Africa.

What's really sad about this concert is the stark difference in quality of line-ups. Consider this - London gets Pink Floyd, U2, Velvet Revolver, REM, Paul McCartney, Coldplay, Sting, Elton John and Annie Lennox (it also features Snoop Dogg, Madonna and other lower forms of life, but you have to give the plebs something); Philadelphia, on the other hand, gets Black-eyed Peas and P Diddy and Jay-Z and other assorted members of the alphabet (the only half-way decent performers are the Dave Matthews Band).

Why? Why? I knew I should have put more effort into my LBS apps. (Dammit, even Berlin gets Green Day and Crosby Stills and Nash; even Barrie - wherever that is - gets Motley Crue and Barenaked Ladies and Deep Purple). My only consolation - Moscow - where the star band is the Pet Shop Boys.

So much for one equal world.
