Just a quick note to say that I've been reading Daniyal Mueenuddin's In Other Rooms, Other Wonders. It's a strong first collection, though some parts of it get a little repetitive, but the story I really loved was 'Our Lady of Paris' (an earlier version of which can be found online here). It made me think of Henry James, and that, coming from me, is a serious compliment.

Oh Come on Falstaff! Surely a combo of hot girl , Paris, cliched love, dissenting upper class parents,goody two shoes dude and a cliched ending should have got a bit otiose by now ?
Having said that I havent read anything by Henry James. So it's possible that this writing might have been similar to James' works. But am just surprised what you saw in this.
That story felt ridiculously cliche!
